Perhaps you are looking for a meaningful way to spend your Wednesday morning each week. Or perhaps you are taking a few months and are completely flexible. You might have been out of the workforce for some time and looking to gain some new skills or reuse some old ones. You may be a student looking to gain a real world experience alongside tour studies. Regardless of your motivation there are plenty of options for volunteering with Inclusion Melbourne with training and support provided.

The roles below are fairly typical however from time to time we will recruit for specialist positions.  We look forward to your participation in promoting community inclusion.

LEISURE BUDDY

We match you to a buddy and take into account where you both live, and your shared interests. Buddies usually catch up regularly for a few hours, mainly on the weekend.

Availability:  Weekdays, Evening and Weekends
Minimum Commitment:  12 Months
Additional Requirements:  Use of own car preferable

FRIENDLY VISITOR

Volunteers who provide social support and friendship to older people experiencing loneliness and isolation. Friendly visitor roles are matched to older people based on interest, needs and locality. Volunteer visitors spend approximately 2 hours a week with an older person doing an activity that both enjoy either in their home or the local community.

Availability:  Weekdays and Weekends
Minimum Commitment:  6-12 Months

COMMUNITY CONNECTOR

Help a wonderful person take part in weekday activities in their local community. Activities range from enjoying a mosaics class or playing squash, to helping a person work in a local park.

Availability:  Weekdays
Minimum Commitment:  6 Months

TUTOR

No special qualifications are needed to become a volunteer tutor, just a willingness to assist students in class. All volunteer tutors are fully supported in their role by qualified teachers. Classes are held from Monday to Friday. Volunteer for one day or half day each week.

Availability:  Weekdays, Evening and Weekends
Minimum Commitment:  1 complete semester

ADMINISTRATION / PROJECT WORK

Our administrative volunteers work in our office ,assisting with a wide range of tasks including reception data entry, filing, restocking office supplies, following up enquiries or special projects like financial analysis, fundraising or organising training and events.

Availability:  Weekdays
Minimum Commitment:  3 Months
Additional Requirements:  Administrative financial, accounting, project or event management or fundraising experience preferable.

ART MENTOR

Volunteer art mentors are recruited to work one-on-one with individuals at our studio. The idea is to create an environment where artists can fully express themselves, without the constraints of a group activity.

COUNSELLOR

DRIVER

Volunteer drivers assist with transporting people to activities, appointments & events.
