Direct Support Professionals
About the Opportunity

We are seeking experienced direct support professionals to join our team in multiple regions of Melbourne. You must be available at least 3 to 4 days per week between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm and be willing to work a minimum of 10 to 15 hours per week.
Regular ongoing shifts available through Monday to Friday. Great work life balance if you are tired of working evenings and weekends. Would suit a person available during school hours or university students.

About the Role

The purpose of the Direct Support Professional role is to work closely with the people we support and their Support Coordinators to promote the dignity, independence, choices, opportunities, rights and responsibilities of each person. This is achieved by extending their skills and networks within the community, and being an appropriate role model through ensuring a positive image of people with a disability in the community.

You will also be required to complete written documentation, participate as a member of a team and contribute to the development and monitoring of service users individual plans.
We are looking for positive people who would be interested in supporting a diverse range of people with many interests, including art, gardening and outdoor activities. You will facilitate community connection and allow the opportunity for skills and interests to develop and grow. An understanding of supporting people with Autism and Applied Behaviour Analysis as well as experience in using communication devices is highly desirable.

To be considered you must hold a current driver's license and have access to a reliable insured vehicle. Mileage is payable via salary reimbursement.
You will also need to have a smartphone (iPhone/Android) with capability to download a software application to accept and manage shifts.

• Strong literacy and numeracy skills
• A deep commitment to supporting people with disabilities to pursue their dreams
• An ability to connect people with their local communities
• Reliability
• Certificate IV or equivalent in the disability field (highly regarded)
• Sound understanding of and experience in supporting people with autism spectrum disorder, communication difficulties and behaviours of concern
• Experience in manual handling and assisting people with their personal care
• Ability to work a minimum of 10 to 15 hours per week
• Flexibility will be highly regarded

Salary

Salary is based on the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 Level 2 (Pay Rate Range 1–4 ) from $32.48 to $35.44 hourly rate dependent on qualifications and experience. Generous salary packaging benefits available to staff.
